Announcing: BNA Community Coordinator

The BNA is excited to announce that Jamal Hamadeh has been hired as the new Community Coordinator, based out of our beautiful community hub, McHugh House.

Some of you may know Jamal from his air-time on Calgary's Independent Radio, CJSW, where he hosts "Freshly Squeezed" and "The Late Night Laboratory" (our Beltline neighbours - find them at 90.9FM!). Volunteering with CJSW is really where his community involvement began: for Jamal, he connected with the fantastic music and conscious hip-hop communities through CJSW, and through these relationships, connections have sprouted into experience working with various school programs and local organizations such as The Autism Aspergers Friendship Society, Socialogic, Globalfest, Antyx, CARYA, and Calgary After-School.

Jamal is excited to have the McHugh Heritage House as the community hub for Beltline Residents and Calgarian families. He's looking forward to working with the communities he’s met, and the ones he’s actively reaching out to. In alignment with the BNA's vision, Jamal wants to build relationships by introducing the organizations to the great benefit we have in the McHugh House. Jamal’s role with the BNA will be focused on programming the McHugh House, and working with the existing and future tenants to ensure that their community hub is also working for them.

If you’re interested in connecting with Jamal to talk about how your community and/or school can get involved with the McHugh House, or just to discuss hip-hop and DJ’ing with another interested human, you might find him grabbing a coffee from the Rosso across the street, or you can drop him a line at [email protected]. Jamal loves the initiative from the community to support BNA events, and is looking forward to seeing everyone at the Beltline Bonspiel (lucky for us, Jamal is one of our curling converts)! Check out our Bonspiel webpage or just show up at Lougheed House on February 17, 2018 to watch or try your hand at curling with the community!
