HIGH PARK is a new rooftop public park and event space in the Beltline serving as an exciting destination for residents and visitors to the city alike. The park reimagines the under-utilized 90,000 sqft (2-acre) rooftop of the Centre City Parkade located at 340 10 Ave SW and provides much needed additional public space in the community.
Rent HIGH PARK for Events
HIGH PARK (CPA Lot #25) is available for rent through the Calgary Parking Authority Event Rentals program for birthdays, corporate parties, outdoor fitness, festivals and more. Groups of 51 or more attendees are required to apply for a permit through the CPA event rental program.
Escape to High Park where the expansive views east and west down the CP Rail lines are like no other in the city. Soak in the sunshine and enjoy the fresh air high above the streets below.
HIGH PARK is a multi-year pilot project to explore creative use of public space
Phase One of HIGH PARK, opened October 2020, invites visitors to take an elevated stroll in the fresh air above the rooftops along a 200 metre boardwalk lined by a series of colour-themed parklets designed to provide space for rest, meeting with friends and uplifting spirits. Each parklet is framed by a sign panel with a positive or provocative phrase designed to be shared, photographed, and used as inspiration for activities that bring people together, both physically and virtually.
After a year of public engagement and planning, the Beltline Neighbourhoods Association in partnership with Calgary Parking Authority and Public City Architecture is launching the park's second phase September 25th, 2021, which builds off the existing 200-metre wooden boardwalk introducing numerous play stations including a seesaw, stationary bikes, swings, ping pong, corn hole, tetherball and more. Phase II strengthens High Park’s place as a destination for the arts by adding more murals, additional seating and a central performance stage for events.
Live music, performance, and outdoor fitness programming
HIGH PARK also includes plenty of wide open space lined with reclaimed astro-turf suitable for fitness, recreational and performing arts events programming. The size and unique outdoor location of HIGH PARK make it an innovative and safe alternative year round venue for festivals and public events currently impacted by COVID-19.

Explore the BUMP Murals at HIGH PARK
The HIGH PARK parkade features prominent landmark murals commissioned by BUMP including works by artists Kevin Ledo, Guido van Helten, Ankh One and Derek Simmers. Inner Warmth by Calgary artist Derek Simmers takes visitors across an expansive prairie sky as they pass through the hallway on the main level to the elevator banks that lead to the rooftop.

HIGH PARK is located on the rooftop (Level 6) of the City Centre Parkade at 340 10 Avenue SW and is wheelchair accessible.
Access from Beltline
HIGH PARK can be accessed from south side of the City Centre Parkade on 10 Avenue directly across from National on 10th. Take the hallway at the main entrance to the elevators up to Level 6 (Rooftop).
Access from Downtown
HIGH PARK can also be accessed from Downtown through Gulf Canada Square and the +15 Network. Follow the signs towards City Centre Parkade. Take the elevator or stairs to Level 6.

HIGH PARK brings much needed public space to the Beltline and Downtown
HIGH PARK provides much needed additional public space in the community. The Beltline is the largest and most dense community in Calgary with over 25,000 residents. However, it also has the lowest quantity of local open space in the city. It is significantly below the City average for total amount of park space provided and park space per capita. The Centre City Open Space Management Plan recommends that for every 1,000 residents, one Hectare of park space be provided; Beltline offers less than one-third of this amount. Given this scarcity of open space, the long-term value and quality of Beltline’s existing parks is essential to the community’s well-being.
The Greater Downtown Plan was created to guide direction for place-making and adding vibrancy throughout the area. Principles from the document include:
- Connect amenity-rich neighbourhoods and unique destinations with vibrant public places, and green spaces;
- Support economic vitality by creating exciting places that attract and retain businesses, entrepreneurs and desired talent;
- Celebrate the creative and cultural sectors through programming, design and communication; and
- Put pedestrians first and plan for the future of mobility.
A What We Heard Report and Parks Brief are also published as part of the background analysis for the Greater Downtown Strategy. Key findings from these documents include:
- The #1 goal for parks in the Greater Downtown is to acquire additional park space in the area;
- The Greater Downtown Plan aims to leverage publicly accessible private open space to meet the needs of Parks;
- Rooftop space has been identified as a viable solution to increasing the amount of open space in the area;
- There is a desire to work with civic partners to provide more open space in the area; and
- Outdoor spaces can be better programmed through partnerships with fitness groups.
HIGH PARK improves public safety
HIGH PARK improves local public safety in the area by brining more people to a previously single-use infrastructure at more regular times through the week beyond Monday to Friday business hours of the parkade. It draws upon experience in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED).
Land Acknowledgement
HIGH PARK is located on the traditional territories of the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprising the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations), the Tsuutt'ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to Metis Nation of Alberta, Region III. We would also like to note that HIGH PARK is adjacent to the confluence of the Bow and Elbow Rivers, traditionally known by the Blackfoot as Mohkinstis.
