The Beltline Neighbourhoods Association (BNA) is a volunteer-run non-profit that has been actively shaping and advocating for the success of the Beltline neighbourhood since 2016. Initiatives include the Green Line LRT underground alignment, expanded cycle track network, Humpy Hollow Park, McHugh House Community & Arts Hub, High Park, Beltline Bonspiel, BUMP Festival, The Beltlandian Neighbourhood Zine, Beltline Fridge, and more!

The following positions are up for re-election at the 2024 BNA Annual General Meeting.
BOARD MEMBERS: GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act in the best long-term interests of the BNA and the Beltline.
- Be a Regular Member in good standing of the BNA.
- Prepare for and attend monthly Board meetings.
- Generally maintain a monthly time commitment of 5-10 hours.
- Volunteer at BNA events.
- Provide input into the strategic plan and monitor the organization’s progress towards achieving established goals
President
The President is a member of the Executive of the Board of Directors of the Beltline Neighbourhoods Association charged with the general management and supervision of all affairs and operations of the BNA. They are responsible for enforcing due observation of the Objects, Bylaws, policies, and procedures of the BNA, and must undertake all presidential duties described therein. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Working with the Vice-President and the Chair of the Board to call and set agendas for meetings of the Board.
- Acting as the official spokesperson of the BNA.
- Being an ex-officio member of all BNA and Board committees.
- Being responsible for overseeing all paid staff of the BNA, with the exception of BUMP staff.
- Assuming the responsibility of vacant directorships until such time as they are filled.
- Taking responsibility for any other affairs of the BNA that do not fall under the jurisdiction of other Directors.
Secretary
The Secretary is a member of the Executive of the Board of Directors of the Beltline Neighbourhoods Association. The Secretary’s role includes but is not limited to:
- Taking clear and organized minutes at monthly BNA Board meetings and special meetings of the BNA.
- Supporting BNA Director of Communications with community news and updates
Treasurer
The Treasurer is a member of the Executive of the Board of Directors of the Beltline Neighbourhoods Association. The Treasurer’s role includes but is not limited to:
- Running the BNA’s accounting and providing monthly reports to the Board.
- Ensuring bills are paid on time and rent is received from McHugh House tenants.
- Depositing cheques into the BNA’s account.
- Co-signing cheques for the BNA.
- Work with the President, Vice President and auditor to prepare file our annual return and financial report.
Director of Planning and Urban Development
The Beltline is home to some of the most ongoing development in the City. The Beltline Neighbourhoods Association works to ensure new developments respect planning and development policies, are positive for the community and of public benefit. The Director of Planning will:
- Chair the BNA Planning Committee.
- Review and respond to development circulations from the City.
- Actively promote high-quality, responsible urban design in the community.
- Work with the City of Calgary to undertake periodic reviews of policy frameworks and development bylaws that are relevant to the community.
- Maintain productive working relationships with the City of Calgary Planning & Development Department as well as developers who are doing work in the Beltline
- Work with the Director of Communications to communicate important development matters to the community at large.
- Work with the Director of Parks and Public Spaces, Director of Transportation, and Director of Flood Resiliency as part of the BNA Planning Committee.
Director of Mobility
As a member of the Planning Committee, the Director of Mobility will oversee and review transportation projects in the Beltline.
- Report to the Director of Planning and Urban Development within the Planning Committee.
- Review, engage and promote transportation projects in the Beltline including pedestrian, cycling, transit and car infrastructure.
- Lead transportation sub-committees and special meetings when required.
- Attend special meetings, events and public hearings from time-to-time to advocate for Beltline transportation matters.
- Acts as vice-chair of the BNA Planning Committee.
Director of McHugh House Operations
The McHugh House is the home of the BNA that is redefining the concept of the local community hub. The Director of McHugh House Operations will work with the President and the BNA’s Community Coordinator to manage the operations of the house.
- Oversee a diverse mix of bookings for the main floor events space.
- Guide advertising and outreach for the McHugh House.
- Oversee that all seven upstairs partnering organizations are served well by McHugh House facilities.
- Oversee McHugh House repairs and maintenance with the Community Coordinator and City of Calgary.
Director of Public Art
The Beltline Neighbourhoods Association believes there is an important opportunity for residents to work together to improve the public realm in the Beltline.
- Continue to build and expand the Beltline Urban Murals Project (BUMP) to commission more great works of art and build community in the Beltline and Calgary.
- Look for more opportunities within the Beltline to contribute more public art.
- Responsible for all paid staff working as part of BUMP.
