Beltline Fridge (on 12th)
No One Goes Hungry ♥️ No Good Food Goes to Waste
What is a Community Fridge?
A community fridge/pantry is a volunteer-led project that enables food to be shared within a community. Anyone can bring food or take food without limits or barriers. It is maintained by a network of residents and local businesses and not only reduces food insecurity in our community, but mitigates food waste as well.
What is the Beltline Fridge all about?
We believe that life is better shared. A subcommittee of the Beltline Neighbourhoods Association, we are a group of volunteer residents passionate about food security and dignity. We believe food is a human right and should be available to everyone. We believe in solidarity, not charity. The Fridge is located outside of the former Beltline Community Hub/Aquatic Center at 221 12 Ave SW and is open for use 24/7.
How Can I Participate?
Great question. A few ways:
-
When you’re getting your weekly groceries and see a great sale on a food item, buy it and drop it by the fridge/pantry on your way home!
-
Donate an hour of your time every few weeks to volunteer to help organize, clean and restock the fridge. Register to volunteer using this form!
-
If you have the means, you can donate money directly to the fridge and our volunteers will use that donation to purchase much needed items. Donations can be sent via e-transfer to [email protected]
- Tell your friends! Follow us on instagram @beltlinefridge, Share our social media posts and encourage people you know to donate to the fridge or make use of it if they are in need.
